2009 Recognition Dinner

            The Sergeant Bluff Fire Department held its annual recognition dinner on November 7, 2009.  Seven members of the department reached milestones in their years of service with the department this year. 
            Kris Nelson completed his first year of service with the department.  He has completed his probationary period and received his badge.  Brent Jensen completed his 10th year on the department and currently serves as the departments Training Officer.  Mike Thompson has completed his 20th year of service to the community as a member of the fire department.  Mike has served the department in many different roles, including Fire Chief, in his time on the department.
            Four members of the department retired this year with a combined total of 90.5 years of service to the community.  Nick Gaul retired after 15.5 years of service.  He served as a firefighter, EMT, Captain, and Training Officer during his tenure on the department.  Mike Massey retired after 22.5 years of service.  He served as a firefighter, Captain, Safety Officer, and most recently as Fire Chief for the past 1.5 years.  Dan Erickson retired after serving 25.5 years.  He served the department as a firefighter, EMT, Captain, Safety Officer, and Assistant Fire Chief.  Leary Smith retired after 27 years of service.  He served as a firefighter, EMT, Captain, and Assistant Fire Chief.
